Jennifer Nessler's Self-Introduction
I am a former Democrat. I was raised by a Democratic mother and a Republican father. My mom stayed home for most of my childhood, while my dad worked. My mom started a business when I was 12. That is when I started working in that business – paying taxes at the age of 12. I registered as a democrat- since that’s what mom said we were. Fast forward 40 years.
I currently work for the South Coast AQMD and I am a Chief Steward in the Teamsters Local 986. By all accounts I should still be a Democrat.
What happened – well- Previously I worked for the Democratic Party from 2001 until 2014. During that time, I served on the staff of an elected Democrat. It was while working in that environment that I realized how far my own beliefs had drifted from the direction I…
