PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
 ONE HUNDRED DAYS
The month of April and the first week of May have been very busy and it has been exhilarating.
First, let us congratulate President Trump on his first 100 days. Well done, Mr. President, well done.
The top six accomplishments that stand out in his first 3.3 months in office:
1.  President Trump can and will act decisively.  Why is that important?  Because it signals the world that America will no longer govern from fear to act – we will act swiftly and forcefully when it is deemed necessary.  President Trump has re-established America as the leader of the free world.
2.  President Trump has, even before building the wall, reduced the flow of illegal aliens by 70%.  “Self-deportation” and “fear to come over” has come to pass.  Why?  Because President Trump has unleashed the Border Patrol, cancelling, “catch and release” and replacing with “full enforcement of the law” by ICE and the Border Patrol.
3.President Trump has, for the first time in over three decades, gained the support of China to help deter the efforts of North Korea in its development and execution of their nuclear program.  Not only has our allies responded favorably to a strong President, so has one of our long time adversaries.
4. Freedom at the pulpit.  President Trump has signed an executive order allowing Pastors, Reverends, Priests, etc. to openly comment on political issues and campaigns without penalty of losing their 501.3c status.
5. The economy has strengthen, jobs have been saved, and unemployment is the lowest since 2007.
6. President Trump is keeping his promise to take care of our Veterans, and our enhance our active military monetarily and with updated and new equipment.
All in 100 days.  President Trump is a man who works fast, demands accountability, has shown an incredible ability to withstand the personal attacks hurled at him.
There is much more to be done, and President Trump, to his credit, is recognizing the slowness of Congress  while prodding Congress to increase their sense of urgency and responsibility to the American people.
Secondly, I am so pleased to report that the United IE Conservative Conference held on April 30 was again an inspiring and motivating program.  By my count, the Mountain View Republican Club was commendably represented by 30% of our membership in attendance.
All in all, this was a very positive month.
Judi Neal,
President MVRC

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE

By Carolyn Gonzales

Social Media
A Blessing Or A Curse
Or Both!
How we love to be on Facebook and see pictures of friends and family at birthday celebrations, special occasions, taking selfies, or sharing special moments.   Those are usually our friends and family.
But, if you are like me, my Facebook also has friends that are political, and not always from the same party.
Some of my political friends I have never met, but have grown to respect them and enjoy our written conversations.  Most of all, I am grateful for the knowledge and views they bring to our discussions, for you see, my political friends are a combination of Conservatives and Democrats, and we are able to exchange views with intensity and respect – and that is invigorating!
Sometimes, I wonder what those in my family must think, for the majority of my family are Apolitical – they don’t pay attention to what is happening, or they rely only on Main Stream Media for their information.
Half of my objective is to share knowledge without judgement.  I believe with knowledge they will be able to have a more open mind.  I also try to convey that it is never that they must believe what I say, but that they must research on their own, they should validate what they are told, and they must find their own truth and understanding.  For it is just as wrong to spew the words of a Republican as it is of a Democrat if one knows not the truth.
Of course, I have rubbed a few family members the wrong way, and some have come to be  a bit angry at me from time to time…but, then again, truth and facts are much stronger than opinion, and conversation more important than silence.
What I have found through this endeavor is that there are but a few people who truly seek the truth,  they find it easier to believe whomever, and never validate what has been said.  That saddens me.
I see that very situation with those who protest at our Universities or in the streets against our government; they get caught up in the frenzy, but cannot answer why they are protesting, or what specifically is being denied or wronged, they don’t know, they are just caught up in the frenzy.  They simply follow like sheep – and eventually, the sheep are herded to the slaughter.
It is more than being right; to be right, but not to educate accomplishes nothing.  So, my friends, educate, inform, share information, stand strong in your convictions and explain why you have those convictions.  The person you influence could be our next leader.
Speak, and always remember:
“Silence is not a voice”
and
“Ignorance should not vote”.

Announcements
Visiting Assemblyman
Chris Holden’s Office
This month, Judi Neal and Carolyn Gonzales visited Assemblyman Holdens field office in Claremont and met with Matt Lyons, his chief of staff.
They were there to discuss SB 54, Sanctuary City States for the State of California, and SB18, Bill of Rights for Children and Youth in California.
Added to the discussion was SB 320, On Campus Abortion Clinic.
Matt Lyons informed them that the Assemblyman had not made up his mind on how he was going to vote, but would be doing so in the near future.
This was the first step in establishing rapport with the Assemblyman’s office; it is anticipated these visits will be on a regular basis.

THE MVRC PRESENTS
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS
KATHY PONCE
MIKE ALEXANDER
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR CONGRESSMAN, SENATOR, OR ASSEMBLYMAN IS NOT A REPUBLICAN?
HOW DO YOU GET
YOUR VOICE HEARD?
HOW CAN YOU BE PERSUASIVE?
Those are the questions that plague Conservatives.  It is far easier to make the assumption that it is a “lost cause”, but it isn’t.
GUEST SPEAKER
KATHY PONCE
Ms. Ponce will share with you the techniques and approaches she has adapted in speaking to her local councils, her State Representatives and her Congresswoman…those who are “across the aisle” from the GOP.
Ms. Ponce has been successful is stopping sanctuary cities, and new taxation in her community, and developed a mutually respectful relationship with those whose ideology is opposite her own.
Amazing story; a woman who was determined to speak out and do it in a fashion that both challenged and found mutual ground.
You must hear her speak – it will be of great encouragement – it is something we can all learn and apply.
NEW INITIATIVES
SPEAKER
MIKE ALEXANDER
Mike Alexander, of the Pasadena Tea Party has brought to the attention of the Board that there are some new initiatives on the drawing board, and he would like to hare them with the Mountain View Republican Club.
Again, this is a meeting of taking action!  We can, and are effective when we focus on the objective and speak up.
We are making a difference!

AMERICA’s LEADERS
WORDS OF PRAYER

Over the years, since America declared its in dependency,  it has been led by men of various faiths; there have been times of great strife, of depression, of war, and upon the shoulders of these men, America’s fate rested.

For the next six months, we will carry in this column, words written or spoken by our leaders as they openly expressed their belief in God to guide this nation.

Ronald Reagan, 40th President
“Inside the Bible’s pages lie all the answers to all the problems man has ever known…. It is my firm belief that the enduring values presented in its pages have a great meaning for each of us and for our nation.  The Bible can touch our hearts, order our minds, and refresh our souls.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower
“Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed – else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.”
